2212-24 S Jefferson has been renovated incrementally over the years. Building by building, studio by studio, the Canyon Run Complex (named for its former long-time occupant) has been transformed to meet the needs of artists and small businesses alike. Construction culminated in 2020 with the completion of the 2222 building, which is now home to ten individual studios anchored by a storefront.
The art-filled space offers studios ranging in size from 150 to 1,200 square feet, with features like exposed brick, concrete floors, and oversized windows that speak to the building’s history, juxtaposed with modern amenities such as key card & mobile phone access, internet, and new restroom facilities. The building has a new roof with insulation as of 2018, and the parking lot was re-surfaced in 2017. Most studios are accompanied by a dedicated off-street parking space, and abundant street parking is available on Jefferson.

Jason Hanson
Artist and creator Jason Hanson took a 20-year educational detour in the world of tech before returning to painting full-time in 2020. His portrait work is big, bold, and colorful. Jason’s work offers a portal to wholeness, singing light on sex, sex workers, kink, trans people, and artists who’ve been pushed to the edges of society. Jason is seeking art representation by a gallery, dealer, broker, or online art sales guru. Please contact him if you know a good match!

Marisa Adesman’s surreal paintings often depict ordinary objects in bizarre contexts and striking states of mystical transformation. Recent works prominently feature tangled and twisted forks slithering in the garden or peering from a kitchen drawer. Her precise draftsmanship and delicate brushwork draw viewers into the fantasy and challenge our perceptions of reality. She is represented by Anat Ebgi Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.

Nancy recently moved to St. Louis for work and fell in love with the town; its architecture, its people and its great community pride. Nathan Sheets is a Journeyman Plumber, but way back in the early 2000’s he first came to 2222 S. Jefferson to purchase motorcycle parts from the original Canyon Run store for choppers he was building in his basement. Through friends and colleagues he earned a space here in the garage, and as it continues to evolve he is proud to be a link to the motorcycle history of this complex.

Metal worker Ellie Shepley uses recycled and re-purposed materials to create custom artwork as well as functional pieces for residential, commercial, and municipal clients. Her work has been featured locally and nationally.

It’s hard to say when multi-disciplinary artist Zoë Finkelstein began creating art, as it’s always felt like her life’s calling. The themes of her work focus on feelings of home, memory and comfort, coupled with a little bit of discomfort for interest. She seems to always have her hand in some project. Examples of her medium include quilt making, oil on canvas and acrylic painting, and explorations into mixing all of these elements together with fabric painting.

Papillon Press is Madeleine (right) and Vernon Wiering, a daughter/father printmaking team. Vernon works out of his studio in Michigan. They focus on historical printmaking techniques like letterpress and block-printing, and often take inspiration from antique endpapers and wallpapers. Also sharing the studio is Kristin McDonough of Hollis Leather (left) who creates hand-crafted leather goods and accessories.
